Interlude: Mitzi goes fishing

Hi all!

I know we originally created this blog to focus on our wedding preparations but I could not resist wanting to post this little "interlude". (Let me know if you find these little "interludes" irritating and I will stop posting them.)

One of the wonders of modern technology is that it really does help people connect with each other, despite the physical distance. Yahoo! Messenger, in particular, has done wonders with helping us stay in touch with what is happening with one another. And its IMVironments feature, lets us do all sorts of interactive things, such as doodling.

One such doodle we jointly created, which I have dubbed, "Mitzi goes fishing," is here below. It is my hope, dear readers, you find it as cute and amusing as Mitzi and I do. :)

Please keep dropping by our blog often, and please do leave comments for us if you can. Until next time!

Preliminary Investigation Results

Hiya Folks!

Haven't been blogging lately since work started to make itself felt. Since I promised Jun to look into the churches this week, I've been making inquiries during breaks. I have already called two prospective churches and temporarily reserved the date of Dec. 15, 2007 so Jun, wala ka nang kawala :)

We hope to finalize the church after Junby has had a chance to do an ocular on the sites since after all it is his wedding too. Both churches though are small enough for the ceremony to be solemn and private but large enough to hold the people Junby and I would want to see there to witness our commitment to one another.

A friend also suggested a site which I checked out and its truly very informative. The site's address is www.weddingsatwork.com for any interested parties out there.

That's all for now folks. Next on my list of to-do's are the possible reception places and of course lodging of out-of-town guests. Keep praying for us and God bless you all.

Marriage Preparation Seminars

I knew that the Church would like to prepare couples for the new life they are about to enter, considering marriage as something that is to last a lifetime. I also knew that CEFAM (Center for Family Ministries) in Ateneo offered these types of seminars. So I inquired and was informed of their seminar schedules. I'm posting them here just in case there are other friends who are preparing for marriage or adjusting to marriage (since this seminar is also for recently married couples) who might be interested.

Schedule:

January 21 & 22, 2006

February 18 & 19

March 18 & 19

April 8 & 9

May 20 & 21

June 17 & 18

July 15 & 16

August 19 & 20

September 16 & 17

October 21 & 22

November 18 & 19

December 9 & 10

Fee: P 3,800.00 per couple

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For interested parties you may call Tina at 426-4289 to 92/ Fax: 426-4285 or e-mail: cefam@admu.edu.ph

As for us, we are still inquiring about their schedule next year. If they have no schedules that will fit the time of Junby's coming home, I'm still inquiring here at our parish if a seminar can be scheduled just for Junby and myself.

Papers, Papers, Papers everywhere....

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for your encouraging words and helpful comments. It gladdens our hearts to know you are all going to be part of our wedding in one way or another - your suggestions and comments will help make our wedding a memorable one.

Second, just some things I have already gotten to doing. I called my parish priest earlier this week to find out what documents I needed to gather for the wedding. The basics for both us would be: birth certificate, baptism and confirmation certificates. In addition to these I would need to secure from my parish office a Permit to Marry and for Junby he would need to secure a Status of Liberty from the embassy. Other papers needed are to be secured when the wedding date is near like the marriage license and the marriage banns.

The priority for now though is securing a church and a reception place. I have several locations in mind already. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the ones I prefer would be available. Keep praying that everything falls into place. Thanks to all. We appreciate your wishes, prayers and suggestions. Keep them coming... :)

Where and when

First of all, thanks to the family and friends who have posted comments. It is great to hear from you guys!

From what I saw in the comments, the most popular question by far seems to be where and when we are planning to have our wedding. So...

As far as the "where" is concerned, Mitzi and I have agreed to have it in Bacolod City, back in the Philippines. From the start we both knew we wanted it in the Philippines. Despite the fact that most of my relatives are in Manila we did not want to have it there since it is just so chaotic over there nowadays (Manila traffic seems to be getting worse every time I fly back). We briefly contemplated having it in Cebu but discarded that idea since it would make planning and organizing it very difficult (I am currently based out of San Jose, California, USA, while Mitzi is currently based out of Bacolod). So we decided upon Bacolod since, aside from the fact that it is a beautiful city, for practical reasons it would make planning a lot easier. Unfortunately, it does imply that my wonderful fiancée will have to do the brunt of the work of running around and getting everything organized. The upside is that, seeing the deluge of family and friends offering their services, it does look like she has a lot of volunteer help. :-)

As far as the "when" is concerned, we have set our wedding date for Saturday, December 15, 2007. We decided on this date because we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time to work through all the details. We are both working full time and when we considered the additional complication that I am physically halfway around the world, we decided that more time to prepare was better.

Hello Everyone!

Hello Everyone!

As Junby has been able to explain more or less why we have this up and running, i guess my two cents worth would be an added encouragement to all our friends to drop by and keep abreast at what we are up to. Do keep us in your prayers everytime you drop by. :)

Right now we are presently trying to gather all the documents needed for the wedding. Will hopefully get a chance to look at different possible churches and reception venues in the days to come.

That's all for now folks! Drop by and let us know if you think we need to check on other things. Take care one and all!

About this blog

Hi everyone!

This blog is here because at some point earlier today I had the idea that, since so many people were offering to help Mitzi and I plan our wedding, maybe we should start a blog where we would have a "running commentary" (so to speak) of the steps we were doing to prepare for our wedding. I thought that by having this online running commentary, our family and friends could easily come to this blog and see what we were up to as we went about our preparations.

So when we were chatting on Yahoo! Messenger earlier I ran the idea by Mitzi who agreed to it. So, here we are now. Incidentally, the title for our blog, "Match made by Heaven: Ramos-Saguisag Pre-Nuptials," was also suggested by her.

It is my hope and prayer that our family and friends can drop by this blog to say 'hi' and see how we are doing. Of course, any constructive advice, suggestions and feedback you can offer us would be greatly appreciated. :-)
